Scouts from Troops 5611 and 611 start every meeting by packing bags of food for a program called Backpack Buddies, which "provides nutritious weekend food packages for children in need. The Backpack Buddies Program strives to provide weekend meals to North Clackamas students receiving free or reduced-price school lunches. The goal for supporting organizations is to serve students two meals per weekend for 37 weeks per year."

Oregon Caves Visit and Lake Campout

Our June campout took us to southern Oregon for 4 days where we stayed on beautiful Lake Selmac and spent much of our time on the water boating or fishing. On Sunday, we visited the Oregon Caves National Monument and took a 90 minute guided tour into the marble caves, which was the coolest!

What are the Oregon Caves?

Scouts from Troops 5611, 611, and Pack 191 worked together to beautify the Outdoor Classroom at Verne Duncan Elementary in preparation for their end of year 5th grade clap out! We cleared out 8 giant bags of weeds and invasive plants, and will be back in the fall to prepare the garden for planting. Troop 5611 has adopted VDE for the year and we look forward to being of service!

Learn About Orienteering!

At our meeting on May 12, 2026 the Scouts will be learning how to use a map and compass to find their way in the backcountry and navigate trails. The following week they will be using their new skills in the field with a fun Orienteering course at Mt. Tabor!

Why is Orienteering Useful?
